LiveJournal appears to be dying. It probably isn't, not exactly, but it is most certainly shrinking, and I doubt anybody can truly argue that. Communities hosted here seem to do well, but they also seem to be the only things that update anymore.

Most of my friends have moved over to Facebook, or Twitter, or Google+, and since I'm on all three of those sites I find it a bit redundant to be using all of them equally. LiveJournal is no longer the safe haven for friendly communication that it once was for me, and I will be spending less time here as a result.

Blog/journal type posts will likely be found over on Google+, where I can very easily choose the audience for every post I make. 'Safe' updates will be on Facebook, as well as quite a bit of community activity. Twitter...is getting old, but I'm still there for the moment, at least. I'd tweet more if I could tweet pictures from my cell phone, but c'est la vie.

Come February, I don't think I will renew my paid account.
Current Mood: blahblah

I feel like every time I make some sort of announcement like this I suddenly see a random spurt of activity on my friends' list and then I get pulled back into LJ. I keep thinking I should just leave entirely, (and probably a good half of my recent "posts" have just turned into G+ updates rather than LJ ones) but I don't think I'll ever quite leave here. I imagine I'll still be updating LJ until they shut all the servers down...

I'm not leaving entirely - there are still communities I'm a part of, and I have some friends here (if just a handful). But I don't see a reason to post here much anymore, let alone pay for services I'm not using, y'know? =\

I just let my account lapse from paid myself, but you probably already knew and realized that. :D
